Jack Dorsey Departs Instagram After 12-Year Run; Elon Musk Reacts

The co-founder and former CEO of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, has bid farewell to Mark Zuckerberg's Instagram platform, signaling his departure from the social media giant's sphere. Dorsey made the announcement on his account on X, previously known as Twitter, where he stated that he has not only deleted his Instagram account but has also embraced a "Meta free" lifestyle. Sharing his decision on August 18, Dorsey reminisced, "Deleted my Instagram account after 12 years.

I believe I was among the first 10 accounts, and one of the initial angel investors." In a follow-up post, he playfully pondered, "Who will they give the @jack handle to?" Responding to a query about his presence on Meta's social networking platforms, he confirmed his complete absence, stating, "No. Or WhatsApp clear eyes, meta free, can't lose." Elon Musk, the prominent billionaire, couldn't resist acknowledging Dorsey's move and responded with a ЁЯФе emoji in the comments section.

Many users speculated whether Dorsey would migrate to Elon Musk's newly rebranded platform. In 2020, Dorsey had already signaled his divergence from Facebook products and his distinct approach from Zuckerberg. During Rich Kleiman's podcast, 'The Boardroom: Out of Office,' Dorsey shared, "I don't really use Instagram. I admire Snapchat's innovations; they're impressive. I don't engage with any Facebook products – not at all.

" Notably, in July, following the launch of Meta's Threads, Dorsey playfully took a jab at Zuckerberg after receiving a follow request from him on the new platform. Sharing a screenshot of Zuckerberg's request on Twitter, Dorsey quipped, "Too soon b," in the caption.
